Big Ken wins the 2014 John Harkin Cup

Kenneth Kennedy produced a great comeback from 8-6 down to beat defending two times champion John McGinley 9-8 in a trilling John Harkin final in the Bridge Bar to round off another great day of darts action in the third hosting of the tournament which pits the top 16 players in the league tournaments ranking against each other, some of the top 16 could not make it so next in line got their place. Losing semi finales were Kieran Gallagher and John Gallagher. In the shield final Donal Duddy got the better of James Byrne 6-4. Thanks to our sponsors Carrick Meats, DPH Fitness, McGill Farm Supplies and to R & V Trophies for sponsoring the trophies again this year. Thanks to all the players who played on the day and made it run smoothly and to the Bridge Bar for hosting the tournament.

Paul Boyle wins classic final to clinch Pat Rawdon Cup

Sligos Paul Boyle won the Pat Rawdon Cup following a 5-3 win over Irish international Shaun McGowan in the Cope House on Saturday 12^th April, in what was a great turnout for the fifth year of this event this was the strongest field of players to date with many great games of darts during the event. Thanks to all who supported and all who donated prizes for the raffle and to the Cop House for hosting the event.

Charlie Grant take’s Leo Molloy for First Time

Charlie Grant is the ninth different name to go on this prestigious trophy joining the likes of Brendan Dolan and Sean McGowan on the list of winners in one of the toughest and completive competitions in the area, he defeated 2005 runner up Amir Quaimbao 6-1 in the final in a clinical display of darts he had an 11 dart leg (where he started off with back to back 180’s for the second time on the day) and a 13 dart leg, Amir’s sole leg was also a 13 darter. Defeated semi-finalists were John Flood and Andrew Barron, Flood had a 170 check out in the quarter finals against Andrew Gillespie who along with Kenneth Kennedy were the two SWDDL players who made the last eight. Thanks to all who turned out on the day we hope to build on this for next year to the two hosts Kilcar House and John Joe’s to our board sponsors, Kilcar Cabs, Carrick Meats, John Joes and Kilcar House and to all who helped out in any way. Our aim is to make this the biggest tournament in the area as it should be as Leo Molloy did a lot for darts in the area and for Donegal.

John Con Wins “Benny” for third time

John McGinley won the Benny Gillespie trophy for the third time following a 6-3 win over defending champion Dermot McGuire who was also going for his third title, despite two 15 dart legs and 2 180’s John came out victor John had one 180.
