Dermot claims second title in a month
Dermot McGuire claimed his second title in a month following his victory in the Benny Gillespie, the 2009 winner of this tournament defeated Declan Cunningham 5-3 in the final he had back to back 117 and 128 finishes, Declan defeated holder John McGinley in the quarter finals. 30 players entered and there were loads of great games including Kieran Gallagher’s win over Mike Naulty where he finished 112 to win the match

Knockout Cup Semi Finals

The Cope House are into the final for the second year in a row following a 4-2 victory in O’Donnell’s, Philip Gallagher opened the Killybegs account with a 4-0 win over Colm McGlinchey, Adrian Byrne levelled the game up with a 4-3 win over Declan Cunningham he had 16 and 18 dart legs in this one. Irwin Muirhead took the next match 4-0 against Johny Byrne he had a 148 checkout. Paul McNern tied the game up at 2-2 with a 4-1 win over Stephen Muirhead. Paul Gillespie defeated Francis Curran 4-0 to put The Cope 3-2 up and it was Rodney McBrearty that was the match winner with a 4-1 win over Garry McNern. Gerry McBrearty and Darragh O’Gara was the final match of the night which was not played. So it’s a repeat of last year’s final in Glenhead in two weeks’ time with the Cope looking to avenge last year’s defeat and to take the cup to Killybegs in the first time in 10 years
Roartys 4 O’Donnell’s 1
Roartys moved a step closer to regaining the knockout cup with this victory over O’Donnell’s in Kilcar House. Anthony Gallagher beat David Kennedy in the first match of the night, Dermot McGuire made it 2-0 with a fine 4-2 win over Andrew Gillespie. John Gallagher won Rorys only game of the night with a 4-1 win over Kevin Squires, John McGinley beat Noel McGinley 4-0 to put Roartys 2-1 up and it was Kieran Carr who won the fifth match of the night to give Roartys victory with a 4-0 win over Brian McGinley.

Cope House 5 Bridge Bar 5
The Bridge Bar put in their best performance of the season with a 5-5 draw in The Cope, they were 2-1 up after the doubles and Adrian Byrne beat Irwin Muirhead 3-1 to put them 4-1 up and with Francis Curran winning the next match the Carrick side went 5-1 up before the home side won the next four matches to snatch a draw, these sides meet again this weekend in the cup semi-final.
Kilcar House 6 Roartys 4
Kilcar House also put in their best display of the season by defeating Roartys 6-4 in their rearranged match this was the away side’s first loss in the league stages since 23rd January 2010 a run of 38 games. The home side led 2-1 after the doubles with Colm Carr hitting a 156 checkout to win the second game of the night, Kenneth Kennedy defeated John McGinley 3-1 in the opening singles with John hitting a 156 checkout this was John’s first loss of the season, Ken hit a 180. Wins for Raymond Hegarty and James Byrne wrapped up the win for the home side, Scott McBrearty also had a 180 this result keeps the home side in second place with one game remaining.

The home side were 2-1 up after the doubles and Andrew Gillespie beat Adrian Byrne 3-2 in the opening singles a lot of close matches on the night, this result keeps O’Donnell’s in fourth place with two games remaining.
Cope House 4-6 Kilcar House
Kilcar House moved back into second place in the league following a 6-4 win in Killybegs, the home side were 2-1 up after the doubles; Kenneth Kennedy beat Philip Gallagher 3-2 in an excellent opening singles match. There were 180’s for Irwin Muirhead and Declan Cunningham who got 2. The Cope are seven points off the play-offs but have two games in hand.

Big Francies recovered from being 3-0 down after the doubles to win 6 singles matches in a row in their 7-3 win in Glenhead, Michael Naulty beat James McGinley in the opening singles and there was a 110 finish from Jamie McNern and a 17 dart leg from Mike Naulty, this moves the Ardara side back into second place.
