Kieran Gallagher wins Bridge Bar Cup
Kirean Gallagher from Ardara is the new Bridge Bar cup champion following a trilling 6-5 victory over Andrew Gillespie, this is also Kieran’s first tournament win here in the league area and judging on this performance it won’t be his last. On route to the final he defeated John Gallagher 4-2 and James Byrne 5-2 with sharp finishing in both these matches being the difference, while Andrew beat Raymond Hegarty 4-3, Donal Duddy 4-0 and Adrian Byrne 5-3 on his way to his second Bridge Bar final in three years.
Kieran took the first leg of the final with a 56 checkout in 17 darts Andrew made it 1-1 with a double 4 finish in 19 darts, Kieran won the next leg with a double 9 finish he took the next leg in 16 darts with a tops finish to go 3-1 up before Andrew tied it up also with a tops and double 2 checkouts.
Kieran took the next two legs to go 5-3 ahead with a double 10 finish and double 8 in an 18 darts leg. Andrew fought back to tie it up at 5-5 with a double 8 finish double 6 in a 16 dart leg. In the deciding leg both players were neck and neck before Kieran took out double 4 to clinch the title with a 74 three darts average with Andrew averaging around the same the quality of finishing all night was superb considering this is the first darts most of the players on the night have thrown since the league season finished.
