Knockout Cup Glory for Kilcar House

Kilcar House bridged a 13 year gap when they won the Knockout Cup for the fourth time following a 3-1 victory against O’Donnell’s last Friday night, O’Donnell’s won the toss to have “home” advantage in the match, Andrew Gillespie got the Meenanary side of to a perfect start beating Roger McShane 5-1, he finished x 16 in the opening two legs and had a 111 checkout also on x16 in the third, Roger won his only leg with a x2 finish before Andrew who is playing great darts this season finished x8 x8 and finally x18 to win the match.  In one of the best matches seen in the area in recent years Kenneth Kennedy beat John Menchia Gallagher 5-4 in a match where every match went with the “darts” Kenneth threw first and finished on x8 he had a 180 in the second but John won it with a x14 checkout, Kenneth made it 2-1 finishing 3 (1 x1), John tied it up with a x 8 finish Kenneth made it 3-2 with a 114 check out on x12 in 14 darts, John again tied it up with a x12 finished in 17 darts. In leg seven a x10 finish for Ken made it 4-3 before John tied it up a 4-4 on x10 in 18 darts, in the deciding leg Kenneth held his nerve to finish on tops to make it 5-4 to tie the cup final up at one game apiece.

Raymond Hegarty put Kilcar House 2-1 up with a sold display against Jamesie Boyle winning the match 5-1, in the first leg he finished 67 on x11, in the second it was 58 on x16 and to make it 3-0 he took out 54 with a x10 finish, Jamesie finished 57 with a x13 checkout before Raymond won the remaining two legs with a x16 and x1 finishes. James Byrne won the fourth match of the night and the match that won the cup with a 5-0 victory over Josie Gillespie, in the first leg he finished on x2 the second he took out 100 60 x20 in the third he finished 67 3x17 x16 in the fourth it was a x10 finish and in the final match of the 2015 Knockout Cup final he finished x10, Josie had several changes in a few of the legs but finishing let him down, Adrian Byrne against Noel McGinley was the final match that was not needed in the end. O’Donnell’s still remain on course for the league title knowing a win against Bridge Bar with take title, Kilcar house have an outside chance of league glory but need to take maximum points against John Eoinins and hope that the Bridge Bar defeat O’Donnell’s.
