Donegal County player Declan Cunningham is the 2006 Benny Gillespie champion following a 5-0 victory over Andrew Gillespie in the first local tournament of the season held in Cashel last Saturday, with some great matches played through out the day, holder of the cup John McGinley was defeated in the first round by John Gallagher (who reached the Semis) on a low note only 32 players entered, let’s hope the rest of the local tournaments are better supported thanks to all who entered.

John Con made claimed the first Benny Gillespie Memorial Darts Singles tournament held in Glenhead and Roartys, Cashel on Saturday, April 1st. This win gives John four out of the six local tournaments held this season, he already has to his name The Paddy Byrne Cup, Leo Molloy Cup, Leo Molloy SW player competition, the only two he missed out in was the Con Sean perpetual cup (lost in semi final) and the Fawltys Singles Competition (lost final).
John beat Adrian Byrne 5-1 in the final this was Adrian’s first SW singles final, in the semis John got revenge for his Fawltys Singles final defeat to Declan Cunningham by winning 4-3 in a very close match while Adain beat Bridge Bar team mate Raymond Hegerty 4-2. In the Quarter Finals John beat Seamus Curran 4-0 while Adrian beat Andrew Gillespie by the same score line, Declan beat his brother Nail 4-2 while Raymond Hegerty had a 157 checkout and two 180’s in the next leg in his win against Frank McBrearty (who defeated one of the favorites for this competition Irwin Muirhead in the previous round 4-1). Thanks to all the players who took part.

Mike Naulty wins 2011 Pat Rawdon tournament
Mike Naulty won the 2011 Pat Rawdon tournament which was held in the Cope House, Killybegs on Saturday 19th February, he defeated Antony Gallagher who was appearing in his first local final 6-3 in one of the best finals seen in the area with Mike hitting four 180’s and Antony hitting one both players produced a very entertaining final in fact from the quarter finals on all the games were of a high standard. James Byrne and 2010 winner Declan Cunningham were the beaten semi finalists.
Antony had the highest checkout of the day in the quarter final of 160, Gerry McBrearty had a 149 finish on the same board, thanks to all who took part on the day.
