McGowan wins second Leo Molloy Title after 18 year Gap

Sligo’s Sean McGowan is the 2020 Leo Molloy Memorial Darts champion following a 6-2 win over defending champion Gerard McGlynn from Glenfin, McGowan champion in the third holding of this event in 2002 was in brilliant form all day and was a deserving winner. Over 60 players entered this year in what was a fitting tribute to Leo and the standard from start to finish was excellent. In the semi-finals we witnessed one of the greatest matches ever in the tournament where McGowan defeated Adrian Butch Devine 5-4 while Gerard dashed local thrower Andrew Gillespie his first final appearance, Andrew did however win the highest checkout of the event which was a 160 hit against John Flood in the quarter final. Thanks to John Joe’s and Kilcar House for hosting the event, to all markers and checkers, to Ciaran Cannon for the PA and walk on music. To our sponsors Adrian Molloy (Tuna.ie), Trevor McBrearty (Sim Clinic), Linda Boyle (Fusion Bistro), David Byrne (Kilcar Cabs), Adrian Byrne (Carrick Meats) and to those who make induvial contributions to the prize fund you continued support is appreciated and finally to all the players who helped make this event happen thanks for your support.
