O’Donnell’s continued their recent good run with a 6-4 win in the Cope House, John Gallagher beat Stephen Muirhead 3-0 in the two pointer singles 180’s for John and Andrew Gillespie. Roartys went top of the league following a big 9-1 win in The Bridge Bar, John McGinley beat Adrian Byrne 3-0 in the opening singles and had a 14 dart leg as well. Kilcar House beat Glenhead 6-4 coming from 4-2 down, Hugh Doherty beat Raymond Hegarty 3-2 in the opening singles and there were 180’s for Raymond and James Byrne, Hugh and Scott McBrearty had 17 dart legs.

Big Francies made it four wins in a row following a 7-3 win over the Bridge Bar, Mike Naulty beat Adrian Byrne in the opening singles 3-1 Adrian had two 180’s on the night. Roartys kept up their 100% record with a 6-4 win against The Cope House, John McGinley beat David Gallagher 3-0 in the opening singles. O’Donnell’s moved four points off the top four with a 7-3 win against Glenhead, Andrew Gillespie beat Ryan McNern in the opening singles and had a 180 and 100 checkout on the night as well.

Naulty Jnr is 2012 Paddy Byrne Champion
Michael Naulty became the youngest winner of the Paddy Byrne tournament following a 7-6 win over John McGinley the Pobal School Falcarragh student was well deserving of the title as he defeated some of the best players in the league on the day while John is still on five titles while Michael is the eleventh different winner of this event. Over all it was a great day of darts with final and both semi-finals going to deciding legs and lots of 180s and high checkouts on the day defending champion Kieran Carr narrowly lost to John Gallagher in the last eight while both semis could have easily went either way.

Week Five
Kilcar House got back to winning ways with a 6-4 victory over The Cope House, they led 2-1 after the doubles and Kenneth Kennedy beat Rodney McBrearty 3-1 in the two points match. Scott McBrearty had a 131 checkout, Naill Cunningham had a 180 and Declan Cunningham had an 18 dart leg. O’Donnell’s had their first win of the campaign following their 8-2 win over The Bridge Bar they lead 3-0 after the doubles and John Gallagher defeated Adrian Byrne 3-2 in the opening singles he had a 180 and 16 darter in this close game of darts which could have gone either way. Surprisingly after four rounds of matches we have had no draws. Kilcar House play O’Donnell’s this Saturday in their rearranged match.

John Con retains the John Harkin Cup
2013 John Harkin winner John McGinley with Declan Harkin
John McGinley retained the John Harkin cup which was played in the Bridge Bar on 11th May last he defeated Antony Gallagher 9-7 in the final, Antony went 2-0 up with a 139 check out in the first leg and tops in the second, John won the next four legs (tops x 3 and 44) Antony pulled one back to make it 3-4 before John moved two clear. Antony levelled things up at 5-5 but then John won the next three to move within one of the title.
Antony did get two more on the board to move to 7 but John finished double 5 on his last dart to deny Antony a shot to make it 8-8 the lads hit two 180s each as well in the final.
Defeated semi-finalists were JP Byrne and Dermot McGuire and quarter finalists were Kieran Carr, James Byrne, John Gallagher and Mike Naulty.

There were 31 180s hit during the day and Kieran Carr got the highest checkout of 160. The 16 qualifiers were based on ranking points received from all the local tournaments during the season so anyone can qualify if they attend the tournaments!
