Summer League Final Night Results
Dermot McGuire is the first SW summer league champion after defeating County player Declan Cunningham 5-4 in a trilling final in the Bridge Bar this was Dermot’s first competition win and was a fitting end to the league which was a great success, thanks to all who competed.

Mike Naulty from Dungloe (Mike plays for McIntires in Dunkineely) won the 2008 Bridge Bar Summer Cup following a 7-5 victory over Dermot McGuire in a very close match and on a night where some of the best darts seen in the area for a long time were played.
Other highlights of the night were 13 dart finishes by Mike and John McGinley, a 124 checkout on the bull by Dermot a 122 finish by John McGinley.

Declan Cunningham became the second player through to the Bridge Bar Summer Cup finals following a 4-3 win over Raymond Hegerty in a very entertaining match both players hit 180’s and Raymond had a 140 checkout, Declan and Dermot McGuire are the two players through to the finals.

John Con McGinley claimed his place in the Summer Cup finals following a 4-1 over Adrian Hamilton, Adrian took the first leg with a tops finish (this was the first leg John doped on the night), John made it 1-1 with an 82 check out and took the third leg on double 8. John went 3-1 up with a 10 check out and with Adrian sitting on double 16 John took out a 141 finish to win the game; he joins Dermot McGuire and Declan Cunningham in the finals.

Mike Naulty claimed his place in the Summer Cup finals following a 4-2 over James Byrne, James took the first leg with a double 18 finish; Mike made it 1-1 with the help of a 180 and took the third leg also. James made it 2-2 but Mike threw some good darts to take the remaining games finish to win the match; Mike now joins Dermot McGuire, Declan Cunningham and John McGinley in the finals on August 1st.

James Byrne claimed the seventh spot in the Summer Cup Finals following a 4-2 victory over Keith Murray. Keith won the throw for the bull and threw first but it was James who took the first leg with a double 16 finish the second and third legs were won by Keith with double 2 and 4 finishes.
James won the final three legs of the night with double 4, 16 and 4 finishes. It was a disappointing entry on the night but there is still one more chance to qualify this Friday night.

Hugh Doherty claimed the final spot in this years Bridge Bar Summer Cup following a 4-2 victory over Adrian Hamilton in the final. Hamilton got off to a good start winning the first leg with a double tops finish, Hugh won the next thee legs with double two finishes in the second and third legs and a 98 checkout in the fourth leg. Adrian made it 3-2 with a double 3 finish but Hugh hit some big scores to win the deciding leg in what was a very entertaining final.

The fourth annual Bridge Bar Cup
Bridge Bar Cup Winner James Byrne being presented the cup by Mary Ellis on behalf of the Bridge Bar
James Byrne from Carrick denied Mike Naulty a three in a row of Bridge Bar summer cups with a 7-5 victory in the South West Darts League first trophy of the season, James was 4-2 and 6-3 up before mike had a late fight back in a high scoring match this was James’s first SWDDL individual cup after 20 years of trying.
In the semis James beat Anthony Gallagher of Big Francies 5-1 James had a 180 and Mike beat The Copes Rodney McBrearty 5-0.Mike a had a 4-3 win over John Con McGinley in the quarters in a match that could have went either way while James beat Anthony Breslin by the same score in another close match, Rodney McBrearty beat Kieran Carr 4-3 also and Anthony Gallagher had a 4-0 win over Gerry McBrearty.
High checkouts of the night included a 110 by John McGinley, 104 by Michael Naulty and a 101 by Rodney McBrearty. Michael Naulty also had a 15 dart leg against his father Mike in the first round.All in all it was a night of top class darts for the first week in September.

The Paddy Byrne Darts singles competition held in Glencolmcille attracted a large entry from the SW league area with some very memorable matches during the day.
Declan Cunningham from Dunkineely took the title defeating Kenneth Kennedy form Kilcar 4-3 in an exciting final.
