Commiserations to the Donegal men’s team who were narrowly beaten by Offaly in the All Ireland Final in Ennis on Sunday it was a proud weekend for the league as we had two players John Menchia and Andrew Gillespie involved and both players played their parts over the weekend, well done to Donegal ladies on winning the ladies title on Sunday.
Cope House 4 O'Donnells 3
The Cope House had their first win against unbeaten O’Donnell’s on Wednesday night with David Spot winning the two pointer in the last match of the night to clinch victory for the Killybegs side, Andrew Gillespie had a 180 and 171 and a 14 dart leg, John Meencha had a 180 and a 14 dart leg
and 180s for Wolfie Milsop, Irwin Muirhead and Steven Muirhead.

Close match 1-1 after the doubles and all the singles matches went 3-2 with Seanie Boyle winning the two pointer against Paddy Haughey in the last match of the night he got a 16 dart leg as well.

The league got underway on Friday night, O’Donnell’s had an impressive 7-0 win against John The Miners B with John Menchia winning the two pointer match against Liam Donegan while John The Miners had a 5-2 win in the Cope House with James Bracken Byrne winning the two pointer against Bernie Mullen, James and Adrian Byrne had 100 checkouts and James also had a 180. We still have a place for one more team in the league if anyone is interested.

League restarts this weekend
The 2017-17 league gets underway this Friday evening at the moment we have just five teams but hope to get a sixth team before the weekend, The Cope House host John the Miners while John the Miners B are at home to O’Donnell’s, Kilcar House at the minute have a bye. Congratulations to Andrew Gillespie and John Menchia Gallagher who were recently called up to the Donegal darts team.

Grand Prix victory for Andrew Gillespie
Andrew Gillespie won the 2017 SWDDL Grand Prix following a 5-1 win over 2015 runner up James Byrne in Kilcar House, this is a double start tournament and on the night the standard was good on the doubles. James won the opening leg in the final before Andrew won the next five legs including 151 and 101 checkouts. In the semi-finals Andrew had a hard fought win over fellow county and O’Donnell’s team mate John Menchia winning it 4-3 while James came from 3-1 down to beat John McHugh 4-3. In the quarters Andrew had a great battle with young Alex Hughes winning 3-2, James beat Kieran Gallagher also 3-2, John McHugh beat Seanie Boyle 3-0 while Menchia beat Adrain Byrne also 3-0, in the prelims Menchia beat David Fuller 3-0 and Adrian beat Kenneth Kennedy 3-1.
